It’s been so long

It’s been a few of months since I last blogged, and that’s a few months way too long.

I have no good excuse really…besides the big black-hole I have been sucked into called school. Is becoming a dentist really worth it?  I don’t know yet, but I will let you know if when I get to the end of this very long and painful road. It has to be worth it, right?  I’m going to answer that question with a YES because its the only reason I haven’t retired from school and become a housewife.  4 more years dedicated and devoted to nothing but school isn’t so bad..I guess.  By the time I graduate I will only be 27 and really that’s not so bad…I’ll have about 73 more years to live.  (I’m hoping to live to be 100). I’ll get through this…I hope.

Besides school, I guess there are couple more exciting things to report!

Mina got a massive aquarium-fish-tank-set up thingy for his birthday! Very exciting.  We have lots of pet fish now…who would’ve thought that looking at a fish tank for hours would be so relaxing. It’s pretty huge, but he loves it – so I’m happy!

Ready for this next piece of exciting news?  It’s spring outside!! I LOVE spring and summer.  The sunshine puts me in such a great mood! Although I am not a fan of spring thunderstorms, (I know people think I’m weird), there are just so many things I love about this time of year:

  • Hearing the birds chirp
  • Watching everything turn green and come back to life again
  • Sunshine
  • Sundresses and sunglasses
  • Sandals and flipflops
  • Warmth!
  • Suntans
  • Swimming pools and beaches

I could continue…but I basically love everything and anything that comes with sunshine and warm weather.

Happy spring!!

A couple of days ago Sarah posted a blog about her peeves and asked  her readers: “what are your peeves in life?”  So now it’s my turn! For those of you who know me, might know that I am a fairly patient person and it usually takes a lot to annoy me – nonetheless, I have a list of my own pet peeves.  Some of the items on my list make my skin crawl while others make me want to jump out of my seat and inflict pain on someone/something (No worries, I only follow through with this if it is a “thing”), so here we go…

– People who chew their gum so loudly that they sound like they are chewing on a rock.  Please, learn to chew your gum quietly or I will have to remove it from your mouth with my own hands.

– Skinny, size 0 girls who complain that they’re fat.  Look, if you loose any more weight you are going to disappear so just stop talking and go eat a big juicy cheeseburger.

– On the flip side, people who do not wear a size 0 and are unhappy with their weight, but complain about it while they are eating a juicy cheeseburger.  Do something about it!! Don’t just sit their and complain while you stuff your face. Come up with a plan and do it.

– People who drive below the speed limit. There’s a speed limit for a reason-so follow it!!

– People who tell me that I am wearing cute shoes (for example) and when I say thank you, they are from TJ Max (another example) they snub me and pretend to be better than me because their shoes are from BCBG. Don’t think your BCBG’s are better than my TJ Max shoes!

– People who talk a lot during movies.  If i wanted to have a conversation with you – we would have gone to a coffee shop or some place where we could conversate.

– Getting stuck in the rain without an umbrella.  Sometimes this is okay if its a hot summer day and I have no where important to be, but thats rarely the case. In fact, thats never the case.

– When the bottom of my jeans get wet from rain or snow.  Wet jeans are almost as bad as wet socks.

– People who put their feet up on my chair at the movie theater.  Be respectful, if someone is sitting in front of you don’t put your feet up on their chair-just move to a different seat!

– When I get on to the highway and we are driving 5 mph only to find out that the slow down is due to gauker delay.  Please drive and act like you have seen a car accident before, some of us have places to be!

– When people think you are running on their clock and don’t feel the need to inform you when they are running late.  This drives me crazy!! Some of us have things to do, a phone call saying “Im running a little late” would be much appreciated.

What are your pet peeves?

Hello Weight Watchers!

I am so excited to report that Mina and I will be starting Weight Watchers tomorrow!  I guess I should clarify because Mina is not so excited about this… he says (jokingly)  that I am ruining his life and that he would rather die fat and happy.  I say NO to dying and NO to being fat.

I’ve said this many times before and I know that every other female on this planet has felt it at one point or another, but I am NOT happy with my body.  At one point, I was finally content with my body, but not any more. I need to stop complaining about it and do something about it! I hate it when people complain and complain about being unhappy with their body but never take the first step to making a change.

I am glad that I “convinced” Mina to follow weight watchers with me, the more support the better! I did weight watchers about 4 years ago and lost 50 lbs (I know thats a lot, right?), so I am familiar with how it works.  I am not starting it this time to loose a huge amount of weight, but rather to get back into a healthy eating routine and to finally start to feel better about the way I look!

I am not a believer in all those fad diets out there, but I think weight watchers is fantastic! This program teaches you how to eat the right portions of food and helps you gauge how much you should be eating a day.  Here in the country of super size and XL, our portion sizes are ENORMOUS! I’m looking forward to regaining that self-control that I once had, so that way I can go to restaurants and not inhale the cheeseburger that is the size of my face along with the mountain of french fries that I just can’t resist.

So, we’ll see how things go… Weight Watchers here we come! 🙂

Happy Anniversary!!!

This week Mina and I celebrated our one year anniversary! It’s crazy to think that I have been married to the man of my dreams for exactly ONE year now! I feel like I just met him last week and here we are nearly four years later. So insane how time flies by.

I’m not sure why people say the first year is the hardest, sure we struggled financially, but besides that I could not have asked for a better first year.  A lot of changes have taken place and we’ve learned a lot, but I wouldn’t change it for anything else in the world!

Our New Home!

How cute is this?

How cute is this?

Welcome to our new condo! 😀 We finally got approved and we’re all ready to sign the lease on our new place that we will soon call home.  It’s super cute and it’s in a decent area.  Although I do wish it was a little closer to campus it’s still in a great location – Easton is less than 10 minutes away, right in front of the property is a target, meijers, starbucks, krogers…etc.  So really, what more could a girl ask for?  I’m a little nervous though…Mina still has not seen the place in person, hopefully we’ll go see it together one day next week and he can give the official approval. I think it will be perfect for us, for now that is.  It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms (we only have one now, so this is super exciting news for us!), has a decent size kitchen, walk-in closets (SO excited!), a 1 – car attatched garage, and a little belcony. So perfect.  OH and rent is cheaper than what we’re paying now and this place is bigger. Oh, Oh AND did I mention the pool and the fitness center?

Columbus, here we come!

So, a couple of months ago I had my interview for the DENTPATH program at OSU. I’m excited to report that I have been accepted into the program!! I am super nervous excited about having this opportunity.  I am pretty sure that this program was designed just for ME! Here are the details:

– One year long

– Science intensive

– Full scholarship!!!

– Upon successful completion, I get to enter to dental school!

So although entering this program means that I will be in school on year longer than planned, having this opportunity will ensure my success in the future.  After successfully completing the one year of classes, I  believe that I will  have the confidence/knowledge I need to survive the torturous four year path to becoming a dentist.

I think that it’s safe to say that prior to having this interview, I was scared shitless about my future plans. In my eyes, I was a failure and the chance of getting accepted into a program such as this one, let alone denal school, was pretty much impossibile.  I used to spend endless hours trying to come up with a back up plan.  I think that the final back up plan that I decided on was to enter a master’s program and then reapply to dental school.  I hated the idea and it was one of the last things I wanted to do, but what else was I going to do??

At the end of the day, everything worked itself out.  I have no idea how or why, but it did. (Duck, I promise, things will work themselves out for you too…I know it doesn’t seem that way right now, but everything will be okay.)

Although I now know what I will be working towards for the next year … and what state we will be living in, I still feel as though there are so many things left up in the air.  I am trying not to drive myself crazy about the details, as they are much to complicated at the moment.

As for right now, we’ll be moving to OH! IO!

Green Beer Virgin

So, yesterday I had my first green beer! Very exciting, yes.  Although I must say, it surprisingly tasted like regular beer.  Haha I don’t really know what I expected it to taste like…but I thought that maybe it would taste a little bit difference.  Nonetheless, I am no longer a green beer virgin. Yay!

Happy belated St. Patrick’s Day!
