A Masquerade

A couple of weeks ago the dental school held an event called “A Dent in Diversity.” The event hosted minority dentists from the community.  The focus was to encourage these dentists to donate money to a scholarship that would allow for more minority students to attend OSU’s dental school.

Enough about why the event was held; more importantly, it was a MASQUERADE!! How much fun is that? Brilliant theme.  Loved it.

Its official, masquerades are my favorite kind of themed party. I proudly wore my mask for most of the night and I discovered  that I kind of wish I could wear it regularly, as if it were an accessory to an outfit. That’d be a fabulous fashion statement.

Training for a 5K…

I’m not really sure where this is all coming from, but a few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to “train” for a 5k.  Now,I have NEVER been a runner… so I really have no idea what I am getting myself into.  I found a “Couch-to-5k” running plan and I stared following the schedule two weeks ago.  I have two reasons for actually doing this – a) getting in shape b) to prove to myself that I can do it.

When I told my mom she laughed at me and responded with “Laura hunny, you are not athletic.  May be you should consider doing something else…” When I told Mina he said, “Baby, why would you waste your time doing that?…” Okay, so maybe I have a third reason for doing this – c) to prove to those with little faith in me that I can do this! Ha!

I need to stay positive!! All this negative energy around me is not very encouraging.  I’ll try to post once a week with an update! Hopefully I can actually sick with this …. so far, so good!  😀

Green Beer Virgin

So, yesterday I had my first green beer! Very exciting, yes.  Although I must say, it surprisingly tasted like regular beer.  Haha I don’t really know what I expected it to taste like…but I thought that maybe it would taste a little bit difference.  Nonetheless, I am no longer a green beer virgin. Yay!

Happy belated St. Patrick’s Day!

A fresh start.

It’s interesting how at different stages in my life I have felt the need to document my random thoughts, feelings, and emotions.  I must admit, however, that in the past I was not very good at it.  For many, many years  I tried to keep a journal; I am now stuck with a box of half written in journals that really make very little sense.  I have convinced myself that I will be better at documenting my life this time, for a number of reasons, really:

1. I’m older and wiser (and fatter, but that’s beside the point)

2.  I’m always on my computer, so convenient!

3. I wish I had stronger memories of certain events in my life and I feel as though this is one way I can reflect back on life and all the exciting things that come along with it

So, here’s to starting fresh!
