Hello 2010!

How did it get to be the year 2010?  I swear it was just the year 2000, like yesterday. Even though the past 10 years seemed to have escaped me, I’m excited for the year 2010, I can feel it …it’s going to be a good one!  Not only do I have good feelings about the near, but I also have great plans:

  • I would love to take a cooking/baking class
  • I will complete my 5k training
  • I will work on my spiritual life
  • I will do a better job remembering friends/family birthdays (because I’m REALLY bad at remembering birthdays!)
  • I will branch out and try cooking new and exciting things
  • I will learn to decorate cakes beautifully

So maybe my hopes for the New Year are a bit much, but I’m pretty determined and excited to complete some of the above! I’m welcoming 2010 with open arms!

Cheers to the New Year!

One of my worst nightmares comes true.

I think it’s safe to say that what we discovered in our home last week was one of my top 1o worst nightmares.  I am sure some of you pet owners out there have experienced this, and maybe you didn’t think it was a big deal… but let me tell you, I had a mental breakdown. Ready?  We had FLEAS.  I guess we didn’t have fleas, but rather Diesel had fleas.  Holy freakin’ cow! FLEAS!!

So let me tell you how it all started. Last  week Mina and I noticed that every morning we would wake up with new bug bites, mainly around our ankles.  My first thoughts were, oh crap–we have BED BUGS!! Thats a really, really gross thought.  I would turn the light off in our bedroom and flash a flashlight on our matress in search of the little creatures.  Thankfully, I found nothing.  Then Mina thought, maybe they’re just mosquito bites, no big deal. Even though they didn’t look like mosquito bites, I went with it.  A day later I started noticing that Diesel was scratching a lot, I then thought oh crap–we have fleas.

After much googling and research, we discovered that yup, sure enough Diesel had fleas.  During my research I discovered that fleas jump.  Fantastic.  Oh and they lay their larvae all over your entire house.  Even more fantastic. We went to the pet store and bought every form of flea killer there was.  Nearly 100 dollars later, the process began. I vacuumed everything, including the curtains, washed all dirty laundry, washed all bedding, gave Diesel like 4 baths, I even vacuum our clothes!!

Mina thought I had lost my mind. All I could picture were these little nasty creatures jumping and laying their eggs all over my nice and clean little home.  The eggs would then hatch and then more jumping creatures would continue to destroy my life.  I even pictured them laying their eggs in my ears. Ew, ew, ew.  I’m a little crazy, I know.

Anyways, one week later, I think I can safely say, we are flealess.  Oh the joys of being a pet owner.

Happy Anniversary!!!

This week Mina and I celebrated our one year anniversary! It’s crazy to think that I have been married to the man of my dreams for exactly ONE year now! I feel like I just met him last week and here we are nearly four years later. So insane how time flies by.

I’m not sure why people say the first year is the hardest, sure we struggled financially, but besides that I could not have asked for a better first year.  A lot of changes have taken place and we’ve learned a lot, but I wouldn’t change it for anything else in the world!

Normalcy

The past month of my life has been insane. I am SO glad it’s over and I can honestly say that life is nearly back to normal!

Here’s a brief update:

1. Moved to Ohio!
-We survived our move! It wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be and      thanks to some awesome friends we were able to get everything into our place in nearly once piece.

2. Unpacked everything
– I am proud to say that ALL boxes were unpacked within two days of moving- in.  That must be some sort of world record.  We LOVE our place and although there are a few things I would still like to get for it, our place is perfect.

3. Started summer classed =(
– So, I am taking two summer classes: Physiology and Microbiology.  Physiology is honestly kicking me in the butt,  it’s a sprint course with 2 exams a week.  I am only 2.5 weeks away from being done with that class and I cannot wait.  Micro isn’t so bad, but I honestly haven’t spent more than an hour, outside of class, on the material.  I am sure that will come back and bite me in the ass soon enough.

4. Saw Sarah and family
– Sarah and family came into town last weekend and we had an excellent time! We went to an art festival at Easton and just hung out! We learned that the car ride from their home to ours is less than an hour and fifteen minutes – this can only mean one thing…we will be seeing each other  A LOT! =D

5. Spent 4th of July with family
– Both my parents and my in-laws came into town to spend the fourth of July with us! Thankfully, the weekend went smoothly!! We ate, drank, and saw fireworks…what more could I ask for really?

Future business idea…

Over the past few days I have been thinking more and more about how much I would LOVE to open up my own cute little bakery.  I know that it’s not exactly realistic at this time in my life.  I mean come on, I practically just got accepted into dental school.  Not to mention the fact that I really don’t have the necessary skills to open up a bakery, period.  Ok but seriously, I think that post-dental school I could totally do a small side business from home.  People place orders, I bake things, and an exchange of money occurs.  Totally reasonable.

At some point I would def like to take a baking class or two and I think that this year for my birthday I will ask for some professional baking supplies. Right now I bake an average of 1-2 items a week! Imagine if I had amazing bakeware and better baking skills how often I would bake?  Yea, like every other day.  Anyone remotely close to me would get really really fat, including myself.

What should my future baking business be called?  Hmm.

TGIF!!

It has been one hell of a long week and I am so thankful that it is Friday!!! I am hoping that this weekend is a good one.  I want to catch up on sleep, maybe watch a movie, bake, read, crochet, have a couple of drink…Gosh, there are so many things I want to do.  Although majority of this probably won’t happen, I am still thankful that the weekend is here.

I have a to do list for the day, but is not too bad:

– Workout

– Grocery shopping

– Take diesel to the park (so much fun!)

– Take an online quiz

– (study physics and anatomy, but i’d rather not)

Tonight a Mina and I and another couple were supposed to go out to this lounge called Chen Chow.  I’m not going to lie, it looks like a pretty sweet place.  So my friend called to see if we need reservations and they said they were booked for the entire night, but if we were all ladies then we could get in.  (I’m guessing that means show a little boob to the bouncer and you’re in)  He then said “Be sure that the ladies dress to impress, and you know why!” Seriously dude? Who says that?? Nonetheless, we won’t be doing that tonight…but it seemed like it was a good thought! Anyone doing anything exciting for the weekend?  (Duck, come visit me?? PLEASE)

Happy Friday!! 🙂
